Stooch®
Digital Freshers' Fair 2.0
Connecting the student world.

Insight
The university social experience remains fragmented
Years after launching the first version Digital Freshers Fair, students still lack a dedicated app that truly enhances their university social experience throughout the year. With social media platforms becoming increasingly cluttered, connecting with students on campus has become nearly impossible—even for large organisations like universities.

Idea
Build, fail, reiterate.
I redesigned the original concept of Digital Freshers Fair using advanced design techniques I had taught myself over the years. The result was a state-of-the-art, visually striking application tailored to resonate with the needs and preferences of today’s generation of students.

Concept
Featuring more features.
I included features like personalised student dashboards, seamless event integration, student marketplace, in-app payment options through "Pay with Stooch," exclusive discount capabilities, and social media-style interactions. I also created a brand incentivised rewards system called student perks, where by students get freebies from certain actions in-app.

Concept
Heavily affiliated
I expanded the app’s ticketing feature to include off-campus events, allowing students to buy tickets for concerts, festivals, and other activities outside of campus. This enhances the app's ability to serve the full range of the student lifestyle, providing seamless access to a variety of experiences. Additionally, I integrated membership options that students need, partnering with popular brands to offer discounts on their favourite services and products, adding even more value to the app.

Outcome
Still pending.
After COVID-19, the small team behind the app, consisting of a backend developer and a fundraiser, had to step away due to personal reasons, preventing us from launching the application. Nearly half a decade has passed, but the app remains up-to-date and ready to make a difference in universities. While it's still on hold for now, we hope that one day it will come to life and serve the student community as intended.
